Биография Родился в семье Дэвида Эфрона (David Efron), инженера на электростанции, и Старлы Баскетт (Starla Baskett). Рос вместе с младшим братом Диланом (Dylan).
Образование С 11 лет участвовал в школьных театральных постановках. С 15 лет участвует в телесъёмках (в сериале «Светлячок» / Firefly). В 2000−01 учебном году посещал местную музыкальную школу (Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts) при колледже Аллана Хэнкока (Allan Hancock College) в Санта-Монике В 2006 году закончил школу в Арройо Гранде (Arroyo Grande High School) и поступил в Университет Южной Калифорнии (the University of Southern California) в Лос-Анжелесе (спортсмены которого в Штатах зовутся «троянцами»), однако пока отложил учёбу из-за съёмок.
Личная жизнь и здоровье У Зака Эфрона собственная квартира, две австралийских овчарки — Дример (Dreamer) и Паппи (Puppy), а также сиамский кот Саймон (Simon).
